Welcome to My Little Plant-Filled Corner of the Internet
Hi, I’m so glad you’re here. Truly.
If you had told me several years ago that I’d be writing an introductory blog post as an interior horticulturalist and small business owner, I probably would’ve laughed. At that time, I was a social worker and an early childhood educator—work that shaped me deeply and rooted me in community and connection. Plants were something I loved, but I hadn’t yet imagined they would become the center of my everyday life.
Then a shift happened in 2022 when I started working at Rosie’s, a local family-owned garden center that felt like a breath of fresh air—literally and figuratively. Surrounded by plants and people who loved them just as much as I did, something in me woke up. I learned, I grew, I experimented, and for the first time in a long time… I felt aligned.
That same year, my life went through a major upheaval. I went through a difficult divorce and found myself rebuilding from the ground up. During that time, the team at Rosie’s became more than coworkers—they became friends who believed in me even when I didn’t quite believe in myself. They told me I should start my own business, they were confident I could make a living off of my skills. At the time, I didn’t feel ready. I was still piecing myself back together, relearning who I was, and figuring out what I wanted my life to look like.
But plants have a way of nudging us forward.
In November 2022, I stepped into a full-time role maintaining indoor plants for businesses across Indy-while still working at Rosie’s every chance I got! That job changed everything. It grew my confidence, expanded my knowledge, and showed me that yes—I can do this. Interior horticulture wasn’t just a job; it was a path. A calling, even.
Since discovering that this work is truly my passion—and that I’m fully capable of pursuing it—I’ve been intentionally growing (pun absolutely intended) in every direction I can. I’ve spent the last few years figuring out what plant lovers consistently need and finding the best ways to meet those needs with care, creativity, and reliability.
I’ve started building a stronger network within the plant community, connecting with other growers, makers, and experts to expand my resources and education. Those relationships have been invaluable, not only for learning but for feeling rooted in a community that shares the same love for green things.
My personal business has blossomed in ways I never expected. I’ve cared for plants long-term, done short-term plant babysitting, repotted jungle-sized houseplants, designed seasonal outdoor decorative pots, created small-scale floral arrangements, and coached plant parents through care basics while we work side-by-side. Every service, every home, every office—every plant person—feels like a new chapter in this wild, wonderful journey.
And honestly? I keep meeting such incredible people. People in every walk of life. People who remind me that community can show up anywhere—yes, even through a shared love of a struggling pothos or a perfectly dramatic calathea.
With my background in human services, I’ve always felt pulled toward helping others. Now I’m finding that sweet spot where plants and people meet—the place where nurturing greenery overlaps with nurturing community. This blog is where I want to bring those worlds together.
So, welcome. I’ll be sharing stories, tips, experiences, lessons, and whatever else sprouts along the way. Thank you for reading. Thank you for being here. I’m excited to grow this space with you.
